Opportunity

In rural Haiti, even public schools carry fees for tuition. That places learning out of reach for the most vulnerable families.  As a result, countless children are often seen playing barefoot in the streets.

At HACA, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to build a secure future, and that education is the most powerful way to break the cycle of poverty.  Since launching our School Sponsorship Program in 2015, it has remained our highest priority.

Demand for sponsorship far exceeds our available resources, and we maintain a long waiting list of children hoping for the opportunity to attend school. Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to provide each sponsored student with registration fees, tuition, and textbooks. Throughout the year, we also distribute backpacks and school supplies to ensure every child begins the academic year equipped to succeed. What began with 21 students has grown to 25 students, ranging in age from 5 to 23, who continue to progress through their education.

Vocational Education

Vocational education is one of the most effective ways to create lasting opportunity in Haiti. College is out of reach for the majority of families we serve. Vocational training equips young people with practical skills that lead directly to meaningful employment and financial independence. Of our 15 graduates, three went to vocational schools to be trained in carpentry, plumbing, and baking and pastry arts. Today, they are earning a living through their profession, while helping their families and their communities.

Our vision extends beyond education alone. As resources allow, we hope to provide every sponsored student with one nutritious meal each school day and continue supporting them throughout their educational journey until they achieve their professional goals.
