14 years of dedicated service – 2009 to 2023
HACA'S Nurses for Hope With the arrival of the end of another academic year, we are excited to bring some good news from Haiti through HACA. Though overall, the country is struggling, we are happy to inform you of the progress of the nursing students. In the face of chaos, a missing government, gang violence including kidnappings and killings, and natural disasters, the nursing students have been persevering in their studies.

Due to delays in school openings and frequent school closings, it
took three years for our young ladies to make it halfway through
the four-year program. They did a one-month internship, and
officially completed their second year on July 28th, 2023.
The pursuit of their professional goal was made possible not only through their courage and tenacity, but also through the generosity and consistency of our thoughtful donors and partners, especially the Rotary Club of Englewood and its members.

The cost of this program has increased to $10,500 due to the growing gap in exchange rates, the inflation in Haiti, and the rise in the cost of living in Haiti. Together, we can reach our goal of making medical education accessible to the communities we serve in Haiti.
HACA’s School Program We continue moving forward with a lot of hope at HACA.

Fortunately, the children we sponsor are safe in their towns in Bellevue de la Montagne, away from gang activities. Even with the delays in the opening of schools, there has been much success for our 23 young students. We look forward to eventually being able to provide them with other basic support such as snacks, water, and latrines.
They are the future of Haiti. We thank the donors who make that program possible, especially Dr. Jane Matthews.
HACA'S Food Service Program The situation in Haiti is still very unstable and food scarcity is a consistent concern. We continue to work on raising the minimum of $10,000 needed so we

can make a distribution as soon as possible. As aforementioned, we require more and more
money to reach our goal due to Haiti's inflation. We know for sure that there are a growing number of families who are in dire need for food right now. We have over 500 families of at least 5 members who are currently waiting for our help.
Fundraising For 2023 At our winter fundraiser, the December 10th, 2022 Luncheon, we served Haitian food which allowed us to raise $3,050. We thank Teaneck’s Better Meat and New Bridge Farmers Market for their donation of chicken, fruits, and vegetables respectively.

We raised $1,650 at our Spring fundraiser, a yard
sale at the First United Methodist Church of Englewood (FUMC). We received a lot of donations from Charlotte Bennett Schoen, members of the Rotary Club of Englewood and Palisades, members of the First French Baptist Church in Asbury Park, and members of the Tenafly Chapter of Together Women Rise. We thank the FUMC for the venue and our donors and supporters who made our success possible. We are very grateful to you.
We are counting on the friends of HACA to help keep these vital programs running. We are very thankful for the gradual progress we are making. We thank our team in Haiti for their devotion to the families and children of the communities we serve and the donors in America for their generosity.
